AC HD6 HD6G STEERING CLUTCHES
Haga clic aqui para Espanol
The Allis Chalmers HD6 crawler dozer and HD6G crawler loaders
used the same steering clutches. As long as your steering clutches are the dry steering
clutches, PRIOR TO SERIAL NUMBER 14484 AND UP!!!..., this information will apply. They
originally used qty 10 each of the fiber and qty 10 each of the steel discs. You can
repair your clutches with either the original fiber discs or upgrade your clutches with
bimetallic discs, which give longer life and are less prone to bonding to the steel discs
and seizing up your clutch pack. With the bimetallic discs, you will not have any
more broken teeth on your friction plates!
Upgrading to the bimetallic disc pack does cost more and you are the only one that can make the decision between the two different styles of clutch packs. For some people the labor and inconvenience involved in future steering clutch repair is not a consideration, while for others it is very important. For less than a $200 difference in cost, you will end up with a superior clutch, much fewer headaches, and less labor in the future if you convert to the BiMetallic discs.

Fiber Friction Discs ...new after market 18.00 ea
Because the 050440 or 70050440 steering
clutch throw-out bearings were getting s-o-o-o-o expensive, and because pulling and
re-installing these steering clutches a second time is rarely a fun project, we bought a
volume of these bearings so you would not have to cut corners. Now, at $45.00 ea,
you do not have to re-use marginal bearings.
